Split

Split is about a person with multiple personality disorder, where this man named Kevin, has 23 identities. His identities fight for a light to gain full access of Kevin’s body. Dennis, one of his identities kidnaps these three young innocent girls, to feed them to their 24th identity, the beast, whom, Dennis, Ms. Patricia, and Hedwig, try to wake this identity up. Cassey Cooke, one of the girls who’d been kidnapped, plays this role of being this quiet because of her past, where the movie shows. Kevin’s 24th identity wants to kill and revenge for Kevin’s past.

Cassey had an abusive past with her uncle, the movie would show this scene from her past when she was young and would go hunting with her uncle and dad. When hunting, her uncle would rape her when her father’s not around. Later on Cassey’s father dies due to a heart attack and her uncle takes full possession of her as a legal guardian. On the other side, Kevin’s past has been shared where his mother abused him as a child, his identities try to protect him and want to avenge for him by summoning this 24th identity. When summoned, the beast goes on to kill the other two girls but leaves Cassey as she has scars all over her body. The beast tells her that “Too much brokenness makes things unbreakable”.

The abuse of power come from those who abuse the people who can’t fight back, which in this movie Cassey’s uncle and Kevin’s mom who would abuse the kids. The downfall to this is when Kevin’s 24th identity is summoned and goes on a killing spree for revenge for Kevin’s abusive past.
